Some of my favorite links...
- Below are the sites that I've come across over time. They have
all caught
- my eye for one reason or another. I hope that you enjoy them
and possibly find them useful.
Entertainment:
- Life Magazine (From here
you'll also be able to easily get to Time
Magazine, Money
Magazine, People
Magazine, Entertainment Weekly,
you name it, and you'll be there. Basically you'll be able to go back and
forth between all these pages because they provide links for one another.)
- Screen It!
(This has been probably my favorite movie review site yet. It tells you
exactly what the movie is about, why it's rated what it is, the roles that
the main actors play, etc. It's very thuro.) Though if you'd like to try
a different place, then give this one a try, The
Internet Movie Database (Also referred to as IMDb...anyways, it's a
site with a listing of over 150,000. Search for your favorite movie, and
then find out all about it, even mistakes made in the movie.)
- The Late Show with David
Letterman (This site doesn't really need explaining...it's Letterman,
you can probably already know what to expect...the Top Ten archives, games,
contests, etc.)
- Saturday Night Live, (You'll find
an arrangement of things here. You'll even be able to create your own Spartans
cheer about someone and then send it to them through e-mail.)
- NBC or CBS
or ABC (The three basic networks)
Federal Govenment Stuff
Fun:
- Dating Advice For Geeks
(This is a neat site, but if you want serious stuff then go to Brenda's
Mining Company link...she's not so cruel there. There's just about everything
you can imagine here, and no it's not a site for geeks only, but for anyone
in the dating scene. You'll need to check it out for yourself.)
- The Death Clock
(This is yet just another fun thing to do. You enter a small piece of data
about yourself and you'll then be shown your death clock...a countdown
to the second of the day of the month of the year in which you'll kill
over. This of course is probably one of the least accurate 'time of death'
things, but it's become a popular thing lately. You can even buy death
clock alarm clocks now, that will greet you each morning with how much
time you have left till your final doom.) There are other sites out there
that are along the same theme. Such as The
Life Expectancy Test (I prefer this site, it might possibly have to
do with the fact that with this one, I live like 25 years longer. So of
course, I think this one is probably more accurate.)
- Blue Mountain Arts
(This page allows you to send animated, colorful, musical cards for just
about ANY OCCASION to anyone for free...no strings.) Another interesting
site for e-mail cards is AngelWinks
Heavenly Post Card Shoppe
- Test Junkie (This
is for all of you who love to test your knowledge or who are into those
magazine quizes that are suppost to "reveal" stuff about you
....whether they reveal accurate information or not, I still find them
fun ...so enjoy. What are the tests about? ...just about any topic you
can think of.)
- The E-Mail Joke Archive (This
person has gone and done what I've been meaning to do for the past year
....gather all the jokes you come across or that are sent to you in e-mail
and produce a "master list" of them for easy access to others.
Though what I've been wanting to do, is to also include poems, stories,
top 10 lists, etc. ....I know though I'll never get around to this, so
enjoy this site instead. One thing that bothers me though is that on this
site each joke has a number and when you click on it you have NO idea on
the style or topic of it ...so it's hard to find anything specific.)
- The Complete Collection of Men Jokes
(Now I have nothing against men, infact my best friend is a male, but sometimes
it's just fun to pick and bash you guys .....no harm done.)
- The Guide
to Understanding Women (This is a cute site! I most definatly agree
with most of them. There are a few that I don't think are true, but I suppose
everyone should remember that we're all different in many ways. So I'm
sure that the ones I disagree with are very possible true for others.)
- Procrastinator's
Creed (I added this one, because I too suffer from this illness.)
- What does your
name reveal about you? (Well here you can find out, supposedly. Now
personaly, I don't believe in all that kind of stuff...zodiac signs, horiscopes,
etc...but I know many of you enjoy this sort of thing. Most of my friends
have tried this site, and all claim that it was accurate except for one
of them. Well I don't know about all of this, so you'll have to check it
out for yourself...tell me though if it was accurate for you.)
- Message Mates
(This site carries humorous animation characters which "star"
in their own skits. Other than your own amusement, you can personalize
the animation and make it into a card or just a way to send a message to
send to a friend. You may want to give it a look.)
- Interactive
Magic (Nifty and fun "magical" games)
- Online Psych (Online
Psych gives you a variety of interactive tests, quizzes, and surveys to
challenge, inform, intrigue, and educate you. You'll find everything from
online screening tests for mental health issues to fun surveys about relationships.
- Quotations
(Their nicely organized under categories)
- Chat (A directory of free
chat rooms in the different categores)
Informational / Resources
:
- Ye Olde English
Sayings (Explains or gives the history of English sayings and customs
that we have grown up with and taken for granted)
- Decode Your
Dreams
- Translations ...with AltaVista
(You've GOT to check this out ...simpley type anything in ...be it a word
or a paragraph, to translate it from English to your choice of French,
German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, or vice versa ...type something in
one of those languages and translate it into English. It won't translate
our slang and it may not always give the most common translation, but it
works well enough.)
- The English Institute's
dictionaries on the internet (This site lists dictionaries and translating
dictionaries in the following languages: Chinese, Estonian, English, French,
German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Vietnamese,
and an alternative dictionary that has let's just say, improper slang for
other languages ....basically for any language you can think of and then
some.) An additional Russian-English
dictionary related site.
- The New York Times On the web
- CNN - MSNBC
- BBC -(These
sites are obviously wonderful for around the clock news of all sorts, from
all over the world.)
- World
Fact Book, 97' (This page contains facts of all sorts on just about
any country you could come up with and then some.)
- Information Please (This site
contains just about any kind of information you might be looking for. I'm
not sure how to exactly describe it, so you'll need to check it out for
yourself.)
- Map out any address (This
site, through EXCITE, will allow you pin point any address that you might
have, wheather it be a friend across town, or a friend who's moved 8 states
away.)
- Baby Name Finder
or Jellinek Baby's Names(Now
you might be wondering why I have a link to this site...it may seem odd,
infact I'm sure it does, but if I'm writing a story for anything and I
need a name for a character, I come here. It makes the task so much easier.)
- Excellent Flute
Web Page (I had to add this link since I'm a flute player. It's a personal
web page of Larry Krantz, and it's wonderful...the best flute page I have
seen on the internet!)
- French Sites
of Interest (I'm not sure how this site compares against other French
sites out there, but it has quit a few links to other French related sites.
Please, if anyone knows of a better French page, please let me know. I'd
be very interested in it.)
- All In One Search Page
- Peel ("For the young and
hip")
Holiday Links
Eventually, I will have a section devoted to
each major holiday. But for now...
